CASTIILO SAN FELIPE, LAGO IZABEL

The fort was built in 1652, to defend against pirates seeking gold carried by Spanish ships. The ships would come into the river & anchor in Lake Izabel where they would be protected by the fort. Today, it is a national landmark & museum.
